How to Add Friends to View My Blog Post on Facebook

Sharing posts from your personal blog with your Facebook friends can boost traffic to your blog and keep friends in touch with your news. If you prefer to share your blog posts with just your Facebook friends, rather than friends of friends or the public, you can restrict visibility of the blog post link with the audience selector tool in the Facebook Share feature.

Instructions

1. Launch your Web browser and go to the blog post that you want to share with your Facebook friends. Highlight and copy the post’s page Uniform Resource Locator address from the Web browser address bar.

2. Log in to Facebook. Click inside the “What’s On Your Mind” input field under “Update Status” on your Facebook home page.

3. Paste the link you copied into the input box. Press the “Enter” or “Return” key on your computer keyboard. Facebook automatically recognizes the link and adds the blog post title and URL to the post pane. Select a thumbnail image to accompany the link by clicking the right or left arrow buttons in the “Choose a Thumbnail” section.

4. Click the down-arrow button in the audience selector tool in the bottom right-hand corner of the pane. Select “Friends” from the pull-down list to share the blog post only with your Facebook friends list. Select “Custom” to share the post with only selected friends. Click on “Specific People or Lists” from the drop-down menu beside “Make This Visible To” and type the name of each friend or the name of a custom list into the input field. Click the blue “Save Changes” button.

5. Click the blue “Post” button to publish the link to your blog post on your Facebook profile page, home page and news feed. Only your friends list or selected friends will be able to see the link to the blog post.

Tips & Warnings

• If you later change your mind and decide to share the link with a wider audience, find the posted link and click the “Share” button below the link to open the audience selector tool. Follow the same procedure to share the link to a larger group of people, including friends of friends or the public.
