How to Make a Paracord Snake Stitch
The snake stitch, also known as the cobra stitch, is commonly used in lanyards and survival bracelets. Because of its versatility, paracord is used to make a survival bracelet. A snake stitch paracord bracelet can be used as roping to secure a tent or tarp, a tourniquet or a fishing line. The most important thing to remember about making a snake stitch is to alternate sides. If you forget to do this, the item will twist to create a tornado stitch instead of a snake stitch.

Fold one length of paracord in half. Secure this to a board with a T-pin through the fold. The cord should hand straight down.

Take a second piece of cord that is a different color than the first piece and lay it underneath the folded cord so that the folded cord is at the center point of the second cord. The ends of the second cord should be perpendicular to the folded piece and extend out to the left and right of the folded cord.

Bring the right hand side of the second cord over and to the left of the folded cord. Take the left-hand piece and bring it over the right hand side piece, underneath the folded cord and through the loop made by the right hand piece. Pull both sides of the second cord to secure the stitch.

Make alternating stitches until your piece is the desired length. Cut the cord and leave 2 inches for knotting. Melt the ends of the cord to prevent unraveling and make a knot to secure all four ends
