How to Get Rid of Excess Shampoo on a Scalp
A flaky, itchy scalp isn't always due to dandruff. Excess shampoo or product buildup dried on your scalp can cause irritation to the skin. Additionally, it makes your hair look dull and limp, and difficult to hold a style. To avoid looking like a fashion "Don't" it's important to prevent excess shampoo and product buildup from weighing down your locks. Things You'll Need
- Shampoo
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- Conditioner
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- Plastic cup
- Bath towel

Wet your hair under the shower. Pour the normal amount of shampoo in the palm of your hand. Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda.

Baking soda added to shampoo gently removes buildup. Rub your palms together to mix the shampoo and baking soda. Apply the shampoo to your scalp and hair. Use your fingertips to massage the mixture into your scalp. Work the lather down your hair, from roots to ends.

Rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water. Condition your hair, as usual, before rinsing it again.

Vinegar naturally cleans and soothes the scalp. Place 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a plastic cup. Fill the cup to the top with warm water from the shower.

Tilt your head back to avoid dripping vinegar in your eyes. Pour the apple cider vinegar solution over your hair and scalp. Allow the solution to remain on your hair.

Squeeze excess moisture out of your hair with your hands. Wrap a towel around your hair to absorb moisture. Dry your hair as usual.

Use clarifying shampoo once each month to remove shampoo and product buildup.
Rinse your hair with the apple cider vinegar solution once each week to prevent excess shampoo buildup, keep hair soft and shiny and reduce dandruff. The smell of vinegar will go away when your hair is dry.
