Setting Up an Embroidery Booth

Setting Up an Embroidery Booth thumbnail
Embroidered crafts are handmade.

Booths are used to advertise or sell products and services at craft fairs, flea markets, trade shows, festivals and many other large, public events. Local hobbyists or businesses pay a fee to rent a small space for the duration of such an event in order to sell their products and make a profit. Embroidery booths are a common type of booth one sees at weekly or annual local events, especially booths focusing on embroidered clothing.

Instructions

    • 1

Obtain all the relevant details for the event at least two weeks prior to the date. This means you should know what will be provided for you (e.g., tables, a tent and a backdrop), the exact location you will have in the room or field, the costs of setting up, the length of the event and anything else you can learn to save you time and money and, of course, keep your stress level to a minimum.

    • 2

Transport all items you must provide yourself in a vehicle large enough to carry everything. You and your partner or partners may need to drive to the event separately if you do not have access to a large enough vehicle.

    • 3

Set up your tent, backdrop or makeshift walls, depending on what you are allowed to bring and what the host provides for vendors. Tents and walls help to separate booths and allow vendors, such as embroiderers, to hang various items, especially ones that are too large to fold or display on a table.

    • 4

Set up at least one table. A large rectangular table can help keep guests at a distance and reduce the chance of theft. However, you may want multiple tables on which to place all of your smaller items. Even if all of your items hang on the walls or tent, you should still have at least one small table where you can place a cash box, credit card machine, personal snacks and brochures. Set up chairs if you do not wish to stand all day.

    • 5

Use your extension cord to plug the credit card machine to the nearest power supply, if you are using one.

    • 6

If you have a business logo or sign, place it on your table where customers can easily view it. In addition, place a sign-in sheet near your cash box or credit card machine to get information from buyers if you would like to follow up with a thank you message or advertise new products and future events you will attend.

    • 7

Decorate your booth with the embroidered materials. Use hanging supplies, such as hangers, clothespins and nails, to hang and display your largest or "featured" crafts. Place smaller or folded items on tables. Organize your crafts in an appealing way. For example, you could arrange items by color, by price or by type (e.g., shirts, rugs and collectibles).

    • 8

One person should remain in the booth at all times. However, two would be better. This way, if one person is busy helping a guest, the other can keep the booth secure. If the booth is large, you may need several people to watch for thieves.
