How to Remove ChapStick From Hair

Remedy ChapStick accidents by removing it from the hair as quickly as possible.

There’s nothing as irritating as needing to remove something stuck in your hair, and having no idea how to do it. No matter how it got there, it needs to come out, and plain shampoo won't do the trick. ChapStick contains petroleum jelly, which makes the hair sticky and greasy -- requiring special care to remove it.

Things You'll Need

• Tissue
• Cornstarch
• Baking soda
• Baby shampoo

Instructions

1. Blot the affected hair with a tissue, to remove as much ChapStick as possible. Be careful not to spread it around to other strands of hair.

2. Shake cornstarch into the hair, and work it in with your fingers. The cornstarch will absorb ChapStick and make it much easier to wash out.

3. Rinse the hair with warm water, to remove as much cornstarch and ChapStick as possible.

4. Place 1 tsp. of baking soda and 1 tbsp. of baby shampoo in the palm of your hand, and rub your hands together to mix them.

5. Wash the hair with this mixture, and rinse with the hottest water you can tolerate.

6. Repeat Steps 2 to 5 several times, if necessary, to remove all the ChapStick.
