How to Set Up a Widescreen on a Time Warner DVR Box
If you have a Time Warner Cable DVR, you can choose from several options when it comes to setting up the picture size/quality. Depending on the specifications of your TV, whether you have a widescreen HDTV or not, you should set your DVR settings a bit differently. To change the picture settings on your DVR to the proper settings, you need to know the picture specifications of your TV.

Turn on your Time Warner Cable DVR and the widescreen TV connected to it.

Press the “Settings” button on your Time Warner Cable remote control and then select “Picture size.”

Scroll through the list of sizes to the widescreen resolution your TV supports -- 720i, 720p or 1080i -- and press the “Select” button on your remote control to save the new setting. Widescreen viewing has now been set up on your DVR and the settings change will take effect immediately.

Tips & Warnings
Consult the documentation that came with your TV if you aren’t sure which resolution(s) your TV supports. Higher resolutions (e.g., “1080i”) are higher quality than lower resolutions (e.g., “720p”), so for the best picture quality select the highest resolution your TV supports.
