How to Make a Graph of a Stock on Excel
Even if you work with stocks all the time, a long list of opening and closing values can be confusing to read through and understand. Microsoft Excel 2010 can help you visualize your stock data by using it to create a chart that shows how the stock price has changed over time. Excel 2010 offers your four different stock charts to use, based on what aspects of the stock price you want to visualize, and requires that your data on the spreadsheet be in the correct order.

1
Open a new Microsoft Excel 2010 spreadsheet.
-
2
Click on cell "B1" and type in the first header for your information. Excel can create stock charts with five different types of stock information: volume, open, high, low and close, in that order. The high, low and close data series are required, while the volume and open series are optional. If you type "Volume" into cell B1, you'll be making a volume-open-high-low-close chart or a volume-high-low-close chart. If you type "Open" into cell B1, you'll be making an open-high-low-close chart. If you type "High" into cell B1, you'll be making a high-low-close chart.

Click on cell "A2" and enter the first date that you have the stock information for. Enter the rest of the dates below the first one.
-
5
Click on cell "B2" and enter your stock information into the chart. Continue until each column has data for every row, down to the last date entry.
-
6
Click any cell in your data field, and then click the "Insert" tab. Click the "Other Charts" button located in the Charts area of the ribbon. Move your mouse over the Stock area of the menu that appears, and click on one of the four stock charts that matches your data. You can hover your mouse over the stock chart to see its chart type appear. Once you click the chart type, the chart appears on your spreadsheet.
