How to Create a Long Facebook Fan Page Icon
When you create a fan page on Facebook, you can select the image that becomes the page’s icon. The maximum size for a Facebook icon is 180 pixels wide by 540 pixels high. This means that you can use a long, narrow image as your fan-page icon. You must edit your image to fit the Facebook size requirements, then upload it at the Facebook website to display it on your fan page.

Click the “Start” button on the Windows task bar, type “Paint” in the search box, and press the “Enter” key on your keyboard to launch Paint.

Click the blue “File” button, click “Open,” and browse your computer for the image you want to use as the Facebook icon. Double-click the image to load it into Paint.

Click the “Select” button, then drag your mouse over the image until you have highlighted the section of the image you wish to use.

Click “Crop” to crop the image, leaving only the portion you will use.

Click the “Resize” button, then select the “Pixels” option.

Type the “180” in the “Horizontal” text box, then click “OK.” This will change your image to be 180 pixels wide, the width limit for a Facebook icon. Doing this will automatically also set the height of the image.

Click the “Resize” button again, and again select the “Pixels” option.

Review the height now shown in the “Vertical” text box. If the height is more than 540 pixels, you will need to crop the height of the image further until your icon is 540 pixels or less in height.

Save the changes to your image when you have finished editing it.

Log in to your Facebook account and navigate to your fan page.

Hover your mouse cursor over the current icon, then click “Change Picture.”

Click “Choose File,” browse your computer for the image you created, then double-click to load it as your new Facebook icon.
