Everyone in the channel with bindings enabled will hear your WAV file.

Ventrilo’s bindings feature allows you to bind combinations of keys on your keyboard to certain actions. One type of binding you can create is a WAV binding, which associates a combination of keys with one or more WAV audio files. Ventrilo transmits the associated WAV files to the people you’re talking to when you press the hotkey combination. You can create WAV bindings using the bindings editor in Ventrilo.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the arrow to the right of the Bindings box at the top of the Ventrilo window to open the bindings editor.

    • 2

Click the “New” button at the top of the Setup Bindings window and provide a name for your group of bindings. You can switch between groups of bindings using the Bindings box at the top of the main Ventrilo window.

    • 3

Click the “Add” button at the bottom-left corner of the Setup Bindings window to add a new binding.

    • 4

Click “Wave File(s)” in the Function section.

    • 5

Click the “Hotkey” box and press the keys combination you want to bind the WAV file to. You can press these keys to play the WAV file over Ventrilo.

    • 6

Click the “OK” button. The Edit Wave Files window appears.

    • 7

Select one or more WAV files from the list and click the “OK” button.

    • 8

Click “OK” to save your group of WAV bindings.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add WAV files to the Edit Wave Files window by clicking the “Work Dir” button and double-clicking the “Wav” folder inside the Ventrilo window that appears. Create a new folder inside the Wav folder and copy your WAV files into the folder. You can create different folders inside your Wav folder to organize your WAV files. The Edit Wave Files window doesn’t display WAV files in the Wav folder itself, only WAV files inside subfolders. Click the “Cancel” button in the Edit WAV Files window and start creating your binding again to refresh the contents of the Edit WAV Files window after adding a WAV file.

  • Use a WAV binding by pressing the hotkey combination while you’re transmitting audio over Ventrilo.
