How to Cover a Red Scar
Scars are often a result of collagen forming underneath the skin to aid a wound in healing. The scar itself is formed in response to a skin injury and while some scars are barely noticeable, others are reddish in color from increased blood flow and are sometimes elevated from the skin around them. Scars often cause problems with self-esteem, especially when they are located on the face. While they often fade naturally over time, the process sometimes takes months. In the meantime, covering a red scar helps improve self-confidence. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Rub aloe vera into the scar if it is more than two weeks old. It acts as an anti-inflammatory and therefore helps reduce the redness of a scar, making it less visible.
-
2
Apply concealing makeup to the scar and the surrounding area with a concealer brush so it blends into the skin around it. While this needs to be done daily since it is a temporary solution, it covers the scar entirely and makes it much less noticeable as it heals.

Visit a dermatologist if the scar remains red for several weeks. The dermatologist may recommend laser treatments, steroid injections or minor surgery to cover the scar permanently. The specific treatment depends on the type of scar and how it formed. The advantage is these treatments only need to be performed once to conceal the scar for good.
