Measure the height, width and length of the roof vent to see how much screening you will need. Clearly, insect control can only be achieved with total coverage of the roof vent, so measure several times to make sure your dimensions are correct.

Mark the size of the vent cover on the mesh screening with a marker and cut the screen out with tin snips. Be careful not to cut yourself with the tin snips or on the edge of the cut screen.

Hire a professional roofer to install the roof vent. You can install the vent on your own, but an improper installation can damage your roof while not offering total insect control.
