Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the stove and allow it to cool before cleaning.

    • 2

Open the top of the firepot and push the firepot cleaning rod in and out several times. This will loosen any build-up and force clinkers (chunks of unburned fuel) down into the stove. Inspect the firepot and fish out any big clinkers by hand. Do this step at least daily.

    • 3

Open the door of the pellet stove. Scoop up any ash with your fireplace shovel. Sweep out any additional ash with a whisk broom. Empty the ashes into a metal can or bucket. Do this step at least weekly.

    • 4

Vacuum around and in the stove to remove excess ash.

    • 5

Pull out the ash pan underneath the firebox and empty its contents into the can or bucket with the other ashes you've collected. Quadra-Fire recommends performing this step weekly or after every 5 bags of fuel.

    • 6

Open the hopper lid. Locate the bent iron handles of the cleaning rods. Pull these rods out and in several times each. The rods will pull out only so far and stop — they won't pull out completely. Push the rods back in.This cleans the stove's heat exchanger and tubes. Quadra-Fire recommends cleaning the heat exchanger and drop tubes weekly or after every 1 ton of fuel consumption.

    • 7

Open the access door on the left side of the appliance. Reach in and open the trap door beneath the exhaust blower. Then insert the nozzle of the vacuum cleaner into this area and vacuum out any ash that has collected This should be done at least yearly or more often as necessary.

    • 8

Spray the glass in the stove door with window cleaner and polish with a paper towel or a soft cloth.

    • 9

Vacuum any ash and unburned pellets from the stove hopper.

    • 10

Paint the stove with stove paint or apply stove blacking. Spray or brush on the paint, touching up any worn areas on the stove metal, or rub on stove blacking with a soft cloth, allow to dry, then buff with a clean cloth.
