Removing a Detachable Kitchen Faucet

Removing a detachable faucet is very similar to removing a regular, double handle faucet without a detachable spout. The base mounting systems are generally the same, the only difference is in the spout design -- and the number of hoses you need to disconnect. Before you take on this project, be sure you have the right tools for the job, they may include a special wrench provided by the manufacturer that unscrews the mounting hardware underneath the faucet. Consult the faucet manual to find out if your faucet requires one of these. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the water by closing the water pipe valves under the sink.

    • 2

Detach the supply tubes from the base of the faucet by turning the connectors on the supply hoses counterclockwise with a wrench. Remove both supply tubes from the base of the faucet before moving on to the next step.

    • 3

Unscrew the two base plate mounting nuts on either side of the faucet right below the base of the faucet by turning each nut counterclockwise with a wrench. These nuts secure the base plate to the sink.

    • 4

Unscrew the middle mounting nut right beneath the faucet spout with your wrench, or your manufacturer's wrench, if your faucet requires one. If your faucet requires a special wrench it will be included with your spare faucet parts, and is available through the manufacturer.

    • 5

Pull the faucet out of the sink. The hoses will come up through the mounting hole, with the faucet. Take the base plate off the sink deck.
