How to Use Endorsements for Book Marketing
It can be difficult to convince someone to spend their money on your book when they don't know what it is about and they don't know who the author is. That's where endorsements can play a powerful role in marketing your book. Endorsements from celebrities or highly regarded experts in the field you are writing about lend credibility to your work and lower the risk factor for the book buyer.

1
Obtain quality endorsements. A quality endorsement is one that comes from an individual who is relevant to the subject matter of your book. If your book is nonfiction, the endorser should be a well-regarded expert in the field you are writing about. If the book is fiction, the endorser should be a well-known book reviewer or author in the genre that your novel is in. Celebrities who might not be connected with the subject or genre of your book also make good endorsers simply because of the power of celebrity.

2
Place the endorsements on the book cover and on the interior pages at the beginning of the book. Place two to four of your best endorsements, those from the most influential individuals, on the back cover of your book. In rare cases, if the endorser is exceptionally influential, you might include one short endorsement on the front cover. Place the remainder of your endorsements on the first interior pages of your book.

Publicize your endorsements. Getting an endorsement for your book from a key endorser is a major deal. Include the endorsement in a press release and send the release to your mailing list, which should include both professional contacts such as newspapers, industry trade magazines and professional reviewers, and personal contacts such as your fans and Internet bloggers. Announce the endorsement on your website and social media sites. Pass the endorsement along to your publisher and public relations department. Offer to return the favor by providing an endorsement for the individual who endorsed your book.

Tips & Warnings
Make a list of 25 individuals you would like to endorse your book. Send them a formal letter asking them to endorse it. If you don't ask, you probably won't get an endorsement.
