How to Troubleshoot Zeen

The HP Photosmart Zeen is a printer that comes with a tablet to control printing and document scanning. If you are having problems with your Zeen printer, there are a few things that you can do before you take into a shop for repair. The most common issues include a lack of paper, dead ink cartridges and bad resolution for the scanner. You don’t have to be an HP technician to get your Zeen working properly again. You can do it yourself with little hassle.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the power cord into the back of the printer and then plug it into a wall outlet in your room if the Zeen is not getting power. Check over the power cords to make sure that the cord is not frayed or broken. If the cord is frayed or broken, leave it unplugged and replace the cord. This could lead to an electrical fire if plugged in.

    • 2

Check the paper bin on the front of the printer to make sure that the Zeen has enough paper installed to print. The printer recommends no more than 100 sheets for proper printing.
Remove the excess paper if needed.

    • 3

Check the printer for any paper jams. Examine the rollers on the inside of the printer’s paper dispenser on the front of the machine. Check the rollers where the paper is fed through the unit. Pull any paper pieces out of the rollers.

    • 4

Load your printer’s settings menu from the Photosmart software and click the “Resizing Options.” Resize the printer settings for the paper that you are using in your unit if needed.

    • 5

Check the resolution for the scanner if you are trying to scan a document and it is not coming out as desired. Touch the “Printer App” icon on your tablet’s home screen and then click the “Scan” option. Change the resolution from the “Resolution” icon.

    • 6

Check the ink levels for the ink cartridge if the Zeen printer is not printing properly. Touch the “Dashboard” icon from the tablet and then click the “Ink Levels” icon. Make sure that you have enough black, pink, blue and yellow ink in the printer. Replace the cartridge if needed.

    • 7

Reset the printer if all else fails. Turn the printer off from the “Power” button and then unplug the power cord. Wait a couple or seconds and then plug the power cord back into the unit. Press the “On” button to reset the unit.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not print with envelopes that have windows or clasps. These pieces will get stuck in the printer’s rollers and will cause a paper jam.
