How to Keep Powder Eyeshadow From Flaking
Flaking occurs when your eyeshadow powder falls from your eyelids and lands on your face. This creates a mess on your skin and ruins your look. Eyeshadow tends to flake when it is applied too heavily or the powder has trouble adhering to your skin. Moisture is the key to preventing your eyeshadow from flaking. Powder can't stick well to dry skin and will simply fall off. Creating a base for your eyeshadow to stick to and using types of eyeshadow that are less prone to flaking will help your makeup look its best. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Tap your eyeshadow brush to remove excess eyeshadow. This will prevent you from applying too much eyeshadow to your eyelid. Excess eyeshadow on your eyelid makes it harder for the shadow to stick to the skin and may cause it to flake.
-
2
Dip your eyeshadow brush in water before applying your eyeshadow. The moisture on the brush will help the eyeshadow cling to your eyelid better and prevent flaking. Use a dry brush or your fingers to blend the edges of the eyeshadow for a more natural look.

3
Wear a cream-based eyeshadow under your powdered eyeshadow. Cream-based eyeshadow will give you a rich shade of color on your eyelids and help your powder eyeshadow stick better. Apply the cream-based eyeshadow with a makeup sponge and then brush on the powdered eyeshadow over it.

4
Apply an oil-free cream or moisturizer to your eyelids before applying the eyeshadow. The moisture in the cream or moisturizer will help the shadow stick your eyelids. Don't apply the cream or moisturizer too thick or the shadow will cake and crack.
-
5
Apply liquid foundation to your eyelids with a makeup sponge. Liquid foundation provides an even, hydrated surface for makeup to adhere to. The foundation will set the eyeshadow and prevent it from absorbing into your skin, creasing or flaking off.

6
Spritz your face with water. A light mist of cool water will also help set your eyeshadow and other makeup on your face. Allow the mist to dry thoroughly before applying mascara or touching around your eyes.
