DIY Striped Wedding Favor Boxes

DIY Striped Wedding Favor Boxes thumbnail
Decorate favor boxes in the colors chosen for the wedding.

Save money on wedding favors by hand decorating the boxes or bags that will hold the candies and small trinkets for your guests. Create matching boxes that reflect the colors or theme of your wedding using poster board or card stock and sticker paper. Personalize each box or make the favors all the same style. Ask your wedding party over to help make an assembly line to complete the boxes quickly. Assign one person to measure the box and others to cut or draw stripes, cut out the box and fold the box.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a cardboard rectangle from a poster board that measures 16 inches long by 12 inches wide.

    • 2

Measure 4 inches from each side to the center of the top of the rectangle. Measure 4 inches down from the top two corners. Cut out these two squares completely with a craft knife. Repeat on the other side.

    • 3

Measure 4 inches from the top of the remaining cardboard rectangle. Measure 4 inches wide across the cardboard from the side. Cut the 12-by-4-inch wide rectangle to create a small flap. Repeat on the other side. The cardboard will look like a "T."

Fold up each flap toward the center. Tape along the inside seam with clear tape. Fold the extended flap over the top of the box to create the lid. Hold the lid in place using a sticker.

Draw lines around the box with a marker, using a ruler as your guide. You also can cut 2-centimeter-wide, 16-inch-long strips from sticker paper. Add these strips along the box to create the striped appearance. Apply after folding for a sleek fit.
