Fold the monofilament string in half in front of you with an end of the string in each of your hands. Separate 13 beads for the first part of the heart pendant. Pick up three beads with the right string. Pick up a fourth bead with the right side and pass the left string through the bead and pull both sides tightly. The beads at the bottom of the string should look like a diamond shape.

    • 2

Pick up one bead on the left string and one bead on the right string. Pick up one more bead on the right string and then pass the left string through the bead and pull both sides tightly. There should now be two diamond shapes, one on top of the other. Repeat this step two more times with six more beads.

    • 3

Separate six beads for the next part of the pendant. Pick up two beads with the left string and one bead with the right string. Pass the left string through the bead on the right string and pull both sides tightly. Repeat this step again with the remaining three beads.

    • 4

Turn the beads on the string upside down so that the strings are now pointing toward you. Separate six beads. Pass the right string through the last bead already added which had the left string pass through it.

    • 5

Pick up one bead with the left string and one bead with the right string. Pass the left string through the bead on the right string and pull both sides tightly. Pass the right string through the bead right above the one that was just added by both strings passed through it. Repeat this step two times with the remaining four beads.

    • 6

Fold the beadwork thus far in half lengthwise. Pass the right string through the two beads at the end of the diamond, the bead on the right corner and the bead on the tip of the diamond. Separate 10 beads for the next part. Pick up one bead with the right string, pass the left string through it and pull both ends tightly.

Separate six beads for the next part. Pick up two beads with the left string and one bead with the right string. Pass the left string through the bead on the right string and pull both sides tightly. Repeat this step one more time with the remaining three beads. Turn the beadwork upside down again so that the section that was just added is closest to you.

Pick up one bead on the left string and one bead on the right string. Pass the left string through the bead on the right string and pull both ends tightly. Repeat this step one more time. You should now have the bottom outline of the heart.

    • 10

Fold the section that was just completed in half. Pass the right string through the bead on the right, just above the fold. Then pass the right string through the bead to the right of the one you just passed the string through.

    • 11

Separate five beads. Pick up one bead with the right string, pass the left string through it and pull both ends tightly. Pass the right string through the bead right above the one that was just added by both strings passed through it.

    • 14

Pick up one bead with the left string and one bead with the right string. Pick up one more bead with the right string, pass the left string through it and pull both ends tightly. Repeat this step again with the remaining three beads.

    • 15

Flip the beadwork upside down so the strings are now facing toward you. Pass the right string through the two beads on the top side of the curved section of the beadwork.

    • 16

Separate four beads for the next part. Pick up one bead with the right string, pass the left string through it and pull both ends tightly. Pass the right string through the bead right above the one that was just added by both strings passed through it.

    • 19

Pick up one bead on the left string, one bead on the right string, pass the left string through the right bead and pull both ends tightly. • 20

Pick up one bead with the right string, pass the left string through it and pull both ends tightly. Pick one bead on the left and one bead on the right. Pick up one more bead on the right, pass the left string through that bead and pull both ends tightly. Repeat this step one more time to use the remaining three beads.

    • 21

Flip the beadwork over to reveal an open spot in the heart shape and fold the last completed section up slightly to create the second curve of the heart. Pass the right string through the two beads on the top side of the curved section of the beadwork. Do not start with the very top bead; start with the one next to it and continue. Separate the last three beads for this part.

    • 22

Pick up one bead with the right string, pass the left string through it and pull both ends tightly. Pass the right string through the two beads right next to the one just added that are in a “V” shape. Pick up one more bead with the right string, pass the left string through it and pull both ends tightly. This will complete the heart shape, but the middle section is still open.

    • 23

Pass the left string through the last bead on the left curve that is not connected to the right side. Turn the heart forward and then pass the left string through the next bead. This will make the left string come out in the middle of the opposite side of the heart of the right string.

Pick up the last bead with the right string, pass the left string through the bead and pull both ends tightly. Then pick up the 11 silver beads with the right string and make two square knots. This will create a loop to place a chain through.

    • 25

Pass the right string back through the middle bead that was just added. Use the right string to go back around the curve on the right to connect and tighten the top four beads. Repeat this step on the left side. Cut the ends of the string with wire cutters.
