How to Check How Many People Have Subscribed in iTunes? thumbnail
Users around the world can listen to iTunes podcasts.

Making and submitting a podcast to iTunes will open it up to a much wider audience. However, determining the exact number of subscribers is not as simple as checking a page in iTunes. Although iTunes counts the number of subscribers to determine the ranking of the podcast, creators must find another way to count the number of listeners. According to Apple, iTunes solely acts as a directory and does not provide subscribe and unsubscribe information to creators.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a host for your podcast. Whether hosting the files on your own server or through a media server, you need access to the server logs.

    • 2

Create a list of the IP addresses that are accessing links associated with your podcast. Remove any duplicate IP addresses that are listed.

    • 3

Count the number of unique IP addresses in the server logs. This will give you a rough estimate of the number of people listening to your podcast. Keep in mind that this number is not exact, because multiple people from the same IP could be listening.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some hosting services may be able to provide you with more information about the number of people listening. Check each hosting provider to see whether they offer this service.
