How to Tie a Windsor Knot for Kids
One of the most popular knots for ties is the Windsor knot. Adults usually opt for the Windsor knot as it gives the tie a handsome fullness and the knot can be manipulated to fit the shirt and outfit. The Windsor knot may be too difficult for the younger suit wearer to master. For kids, its best to attempt the half-Windsor knot as a precursor to the real thing. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Stand in front of the mirror. Feed the tie though the collar so that the broad side is on your right and the narrow side is on the left. Pull the tie until the left side is half the length of the right side.
-
2
Take the left side and move it over to the right, under the broad side. Take the broad side and feed it over top of the narrow side, around the back and out on the right side again.

3
Take the tip of the broad side and feed it over the top of the knot and down the back so that this loop sits to the right of the previous loop. Pull tight. This loop should be oriented to the top, right of the first knot. The Windsor knot has a triangular shape.

4
Take the broad side around the back and over the front of the middle knot. Feed the tip over the top of the knots again. This creates the third knot in the triangle; your loop should be on the left of the middle loop. Don't pull the loops tight.

5
Feed the tip of the broad side around the back, over the top of the central loop and through the loop you made over the top of the central knot in the previous step. Pull the knots tight. Hold the narrow side and push the knot up until it is positioned over the center button of your dress shirt.
