Instructions

  1. Pin Curl Updo

    • 1

Split your hair down the middle at the back to create two sections. Put each section into a ponytail using a hair tie. At this point you should have pseudo pigtails.

    • 2

Starting on the left pigtail, take an inch section of hair, and wrap the end of the section around your first two fingers to create a loop. While still holding onto the loop, remove your fingers.

    • 3

Roll the loop up back up toward the hair tie and place a bobby pin on the flat bottom of the roll. Do not pin the top of the roll down. Continue to take inch sections and roll them until all of the hair in the pigtail is curled. Repeat this method on the other pigtail.

    Crossover Bun

    • 4

Section off a piece of hair from the front, running from the edge of your left brow to the edge of your right brow. This section should run all the way back down to the nape of your neck.

    • 5

Bring all the hair in that section up to your crown, and secure the hair with a hair tie to make a ponytail. You should have a high ponytail on your crown, and the pieces at the side should be left down.

    • 6

Hold the ponytail at the hair tie and push your hair tie, and the hair contained within it, to the right and hold it. With your other hand, take the end of your ponytail and pull it to the left and then up and around. Continue to twist your hair around until it forms a bun. Secure the bun by placing a hair tie around it. Fix any loose areas by securing with a bobby pin.

    • 7

Select the left piece that you left hanging earlier and bring it up and across to the right at a diagonal and wrap the end of the hair around the bun. Secure it with a bobby pin. Repeat this step on the right side but with the hair across to the left.

    Low Twisted Bun

    • 8

Brush through your braids with your fingers to remove any tangles. Bring the hair into a low ponytail and secure it with a hair tie. Ensure that the hair tie isn't secured right on the scalp; it should be about 2 inches away.

    • 9

Just above the hair tie, using your fingers, make a gap in your hair from the top through to the bottom. Keep one of your hands holding the gap.

    • 10

With your other hand, take your ponytail and lift it up and push it down through the gap. Pull the hair down. This will create a rolled effect. Bring the ponytail up again and push it through the gap again, but this time do not push it all the way through. Instead, leave it in the gap. Take a hair pins and pin down the hair. If your braids are longer, you may want to push the hair through an extra time.
