D&B allows you to file reports online.

Corporations and businesses with a D-U-N-S number have a better chance of receiving business from government and global companies than those without. Duns and Bradstreet, also referred to as D&B, provides D-U-N-S numbers to corporations that report to D&B with credit report information. The company rates credit scores and information for businesses that are reflected in each business’ D-U-N-S number. To file a report requesting a D-U-N-S number, you must apply on the D&B website.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the “D&B D-U-N-S Number” link at the top of the D&B website. Scroll down the menu that appears, and click “Get A D&B D-U-N-S Number.”

    • 2

Provide the name of your business, as well as the city and state where it's located, in the boxes indicated. Click “Search” to provide a list of businesses in your area with similar names. Choose yours from the list, and click “Next.”

    • 3

Enter your employer identification number, business entity type, number of employees, and the remainder of the business information required to receive a D-U-N-S number.

    • 4

Review your information, and submit it to D&B. Your D-U-N-S number will arrive in the mail within 30 days of receipt of your application. From this point on, all creditors and public information regarding your business is reported to D&B and reflected in your D-U-N-S number.

    • 5

File reports with D&B about your business, such as your annual revenue, by logging into your account and updating your business report information. Not all information is available for you to report -- including judgments, liens and reports from your company's creditors.
