How to Make Mosaic Plates
Mosaic art consists of small tile pottery or ceramic pieces that are arranged to form a picture or design. While some mosaics are large-scale and intricate, others are artful and expressive in their simplicity and rustic style. If you’re new to mosaic art or are looking for an easygoing mosaic project, design your own decorative mosaic plates. While you won’t be able to eat or serve food off of it, you can transform an old, unwanted dinner plate into decorative wall art for the home with this relaxing and enjoyable activity.

Tips & Warnings
Use tweezers for precise placement of tiles if you find that your fingers shift already-placed tiles out of position.
Incorporate the colors of a room, furniture or painting in your home when deciding on mosaic tile colors.
Spray a coat of clear sealer over completed, dried mosaic plates to help protect against moisture and to give tiles an extra-strong bond.
Cut small squares from colored paper and use craft glue to make a child-friendly, paper-based version of this mosaic activity.
Small tiles can be a choking hazard. Supervise children at all times when working with mosaic tiles.
