Transition effects add pizzazz and help maintain viewer interest in your presentations. The speed of transition effects can distract viewers, however, so you will want to preview your slide show and adjust the transition speed in your PowerPoint 98/2000 slide presentations to make sure the effects are smooth.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Open the slide for which you want to change the transition speed.
Step2
Go to the Slide Show menu.
Step3
Select Slide Transition.
Step4
Click the radio button next to the speed you want: Slow, Medium, or Fast.
Step5
Click Apply to apply this speed to the slide you selected or Apply to All to apply this speed to all of the slides in your presentation.

Tips & Warnings

  • Too many different transition effects in one presentation can be distracting. Maintain consistency in your presentation by using the same transition effect throughout. Add a different transition effect to just a few slides, to make them stand out.
