Removing Batteries From an ADT Door Sensor
When your ADT security system's control panel sends out warning beeps, it is a sign that the system's batteries are low. Once the security system notifies you of a low battery, the system will continue working for 30 days. After that time period, the door sensor with the low battery may stop working at any time. To avoid an interruption in your home's protection, ADT advises replacing the battery before the 30-day warning period is up. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Check your ADT security system's main display. This is the wall panel where you operate the system. When a door sensor's battery is low, the display will read "sensor ## low battery." The number displayed after the word "sensor" will vary according to the zone that contains the low battery -- 01, 02, 03. The numbered zones are designated by your installation technician. If the display reads sensor 00 low battery, then the batteries in the back of the display pad itself are low.

2
Disarm the alarm system if it is currently armed.

-
3
Go to the door that the zone number on the sensor indicated. You may need a step stool to reach the door sensor.
-
4
Pull the cover off of the sensor with your fingers. It is designed to snap on and off and should come off easily. Remove the AAA batteries and replace them with fresh batteries. Make sure that you connect positive to positive and negative to negative. If the batteries are not AAA and are wired to the unit, call the installation company. The unit must be replaced by the manufacturer.

5
Check the display panel after four hours. By this time, the low battery display should have disappeared. If the system still signals that there is a low battery, check to make sure that you changed the batteries in the right zone and that the batteries are secure and installed correctly.
