How to Fade Audio Out in Premiere

Audios fades can give the audio track of a video project edited on Adobe Premiere a clean, professional sound. You can fade audio anywhere along your project's audio track -- to transition to the next scene or to simply wrap up your project at the credits. You can find audio fades and other transitions in Premiere's effects window, but you also can manually fade out audio by adjusting the audio tracks' volume bands.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Adobe Premiere. Click on "Open Project" from Premiere's welcome screen to load an existing project or click "New Project" to begin work on a new one.

    • 2

Drag and drop the audio or video into Premiere's timeline window if you're working on a new project.

    • 3

Click on the arrow button on the audio track that contains your audio to expand the track. Notice the horizontal band running along the audio track.

    • 4

Drag the timeline slider to the point in your audio track where you want your fade out to start, then click on the track's "Add Keyframe" button. A new point will be added to the track band at the timeline slider's position.

    • 5

Click on the end point of the track band, then drag it down to the bottom of the audio clip. The audio will fade out from the keyframe to the end point.

Click on Premiere's "File" heading, then select the "Save" option to save your work.
