Measure the length of the fireplace along the inside. Run a tape measure from one end to the other and record the measurement.

Run a tape measure from the front of the fireplace to the back. This will measure the depth of the fireplace. Record that measurement.

Measure the height of the fireplace. Run a tape measure from the base of the fireplace to the top of the brick at the front. Repeat the process in various locations and record the highest measurement. The height could vary from one side to the other.

Pick a Quadra-fire wood insert that is smaller than all three measurements. This will ensure it will fit in the fireplace. The insert should be at least 3 inches smaller on all the measurements so it will fit properly.
