How to Enlarge Heads in Photoshop

Use the layers in Adobe Photoshop to alter a photo, including making a head larger. This effect can be used to make up for a bad camera angle. Making the heads dramatically bigger can have hilarious consequences, making your friends look like bobble heads. Use a good quality photo with a high resolution when enlarging a head. Making the head too large on a poor photo may cause the image to pixelate or appear faded.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Photoshop. Click the “File” menu and select “Open.” Choose the image you want to change and click “Open.”

    • 2

Zoom in to the person’s head using the “Zoom” menu located at the bottom of the main window.

    • 3

Select the “Lasso Tool” from the Toolbox. Click just above the hairline and hold down the mouse button. Drag the tool all the way around the head until you reach your starting point. Release the mouse button. Don’t worry if you select some of the background behind the head, but the entire head must be traced.

    • 4

Press “Ctrl-C” to copy the tracing. Press “Ctrl-V” to paste it. This places the copy directly over the original in a new layer.

    • 5

Click the “Edit” menu, select “Transform,” then click “Scale.” A square frame appears around the head. Place the cursor over a corner of the frame and drag it outward. Hold down the “Shift” key while dragging the corner to maintain the same height and width ratios. Release the mouse button and press “Enter” to accept the transformation.

    • 6

Click the “Selection Tool” in the Toolbox. Use this tool to drag the head into its proper location above the shoulders.

    • 7

Click the “Eraser Tool” in the Toolbox. Drag the eraser around any background image that you may have traced with the lasso tool. You can also use the “Smudge Tool” located in the Toolbox and drag it across the background around the head to smudge away any colors or lines that look out of place.

    • 8

Click the “Layer” menu and select “Merge Visible” to merge the large head into the original photo.

    • 9

Save the photo as a new file by clicking “Save As” in the “File” menu and giving it a new name. This will prevent you from over-writing the original photo.
