How to Make Scissor Fobs
Scissor fobs are used to distinguish one pair of scissors from another, especially in a quilting circle or sewing guild. Stringing beads on monofilament thread adds charm and beauty to an otherwise ordinary pair of scissors. Use a favorite color or bead shape in your fob to add aspects of your own personality to your scissors.
Things You'll Need
- 1 yard monofilament thread
- Charm leash
- 2 crimp beads
- Flat-nose pliers
- Large decorative beads
- Seed beads

1
Fold a yard of monofilament thread in half, bringing the ends together. Put the folded thread through the slip ring on a charm leash and tie a double knot to secure. You should now have two threads of equal length coming off the slip ring.
-
2
Feed both ends of monofilament thread through a crimp bead. Slip the crimp bead over the knot by the slip ring and flatten it with flat-nose pliers.

3
Slip a large decorative bead over both threads to begin your fob, then feed several seed beads onto both threads and slide them next to the large decorative bead. Place another large decorative bead onto the threads. Repeat this pattern until your fob is of the desired length.

4
Feed one crimp bead onto both threads, and then thread one last decorative bead onto the end. Bring the threads around the decorative bead and up through the crimp bead. Tie a double knot, and then flatten the crimp bead with flat-nose pliers. Cut off the ends of the thread.

5
Attach the fob to your scissors. Put the charm leash through the scissor opening, and then bring the beaded length over the scissors and through the leash. Pull it tight.
