How to Remove a C-Clip from a Spray Head

A spray head is a convenient attachment to the kitchen sink. The spray head is designed so that the water pressure can flow out at a higher rate than the sink faucet. This enables the sprayer to work better than the faucet because of the stronger water flow coming out of the sprayer head. The head is connected to the sprayer by a plastic C-clip, washer and a slide nut. The C-clip must be removed before the head can be removed from the sprayer. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Close any valves that are supplying water to the spray head. If there are no valves, turn the water off that is flowing to the sink.

    • 2

Hold the sprayer head overt the sink and squeeze the trigger of the sprayer to release any excess water. Loosen and remove the slide nut from the bottom of the sprayer head with the pliers.

    • 3

Pull the nut off the end of the sprayer head. Pull the plastic washer off and place them in a safe area.

    • 4

Insert the tip of a small flat, head screwdriver between the plastic C-clip and the base of the sprayer head. Pry upward on the C-clip until it is flexed out enough to grab with the needle nose pliers.

    • 5

Grab the sides of the C-clip and pull it off of the sprayer head. Pull the head off of the sprayer.

Tips & Warnings

  • The C-clip is hard but flexible. It will require some force to get the c-clip to flex but once it does, it will come off with the assistance of the needle-nose pliers. Use the small flat-head screwdriver to get the C-clip to flex.

  • Ensure that the water flow is off to the sprayer or water will flow out of the end of the sprayer when the head is removed.
