How to Keep Eye Shadow From Clumping in the Crease
You take all the time needed to look just right before leaving the house. Everything is in place. By the time you are in the car and peek in the rear-view mirror, your eye shadow looks like three straight lines drawn by a toddler using her favorite markers. Take heart. You can stop the clumping and creasing. Changing your preparation routine only slightly will help your eye shadow stay in place for the day. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Facial cleanser
- Cotton ball or wash cloth
- Towel
- Foundational powder
- Mattifying cream
- Sponge applicator

Rinse each eyelid with water. Put a small amount of facial cleanser on a moist cotton ball or wash cloth. Gently wipe each eyelid to remove any oil. Rinse the cleanser off each eyelid. Dab your eyelids with a towel to remove moisture. Allow five minutes for your eyelids to dry completely.

Spread a small amount of foundational powder entirely over each eyelid to the brow line.

Place half of a pea-sized dab of mattifying cream on your index finger. Spread the cream over one eyelid where you will wear the eye shadow. Repeat with the other eyelid.

Spread eye shadow onto your lids with a clean sponge applicator. Keep your sponges clean or purchase new sponge applicators, as oil buildup will cause your eye shadow to cake and crease.

Tips & Warnings
Keep foundational powder or mattifying cream out of your eyes. Wash your eyes out thoroughly if contact does occur.
