How to Make a Cat Head Band for a Toddler

How to Make a Cat Head Band for a Toddler thumbnail
The black cat is a favorite Halloween costume for toddlers.

A Halloween kitty needs a great pair of ears, which are attached to a headband for maximum comfort and stability. The toddler can assist in the construction of the cat headband, which is made from a purchased plastic headband and felt and will not rip or tear during the costume party or while trick and treating. After adding a black shirt and pants and a tail made from a stuffed black tube sock, just some cat makeup will complete the costume.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut out two triangles of black felt that measure 6 inches on two sides and 4 inches on one side.

    • 2

Fold the 4-inch edge of the felt over 1 inch twice and iron it in place on one triangle. Unfold the felt and glue 1/4 inch of the bottom edge to the back of the triangle with the white glue. You are creating a flat bottom to the ear that can be glued to the headband. Repeat this step on the second triangle.

    • 3

Cut two triangles of grey felt to measure 3 inches on all sides. Glue the grey triangles to the center of the black triangles with the white glue.

    • 4

Cut two 8-inch lengths of black fun fur and glue them to the edges of the front of the black triangles, using the white glue.

    • 5

Glue the bottom flat edges of the ears to the headband with the white glue. Let all glue dry for one hour before wearing the cat headband.
