1
Paint the walls light blue in a semi-gloss paint finish. Semi-gloss paint cleans better than flat paint -- a necessity in the kitchen.
-
2
Install a tile backsplash above the countertop, stove top and sink area. Design a checkered pattern to include blue, white and a third color choice. A touch of yellow will brighten the kitchen and add warmth to the blue.

3
Paint the outside of cabinets white and the interior medium blue. Replace solid cabinet doors with glass fronts.
-
4
Hang white curtains with blue trim. Cafe curtains are an attractive style for kitchens.
-
5
Exhibit cobalt glassware in the open space between the cabinets and ceiling. Display stemware in groups of three, rather than displaying them in a straight line. Set plates in display stands to show off their beauty.
-
6
Hang decorative plates from the wall using wall hangers. Choose designs with fancy blue trim or pictures.
-
7
Hide small appliances with blue covers. Use different shades of blue if more than one appliance is covered.
-
8
Place a blue ceramic pitcher on the countertop to hold often-used utensils.
