DIY Ruffle Blouse
Turn an ordinary T-shirt into a ruffled blouse with basic sewing skills for an inexpensive and beautiful shirt. The blouse is made using a fabric ruffling technique that can be done easily, using an old or new T-shirt. The ruffles are added to another shirt of your choice, whether it be another T-shirt or more expensive blouse that you want to transform. The ruffles blouse craft is a project for those just starting out with sewing and is an inexpensive alternative to store-bought blouses.

1
Cut one of the shirts into eight strips; two strips that are 1.25 inches wide and 24 inches long and six strips that are 2.5 inches wide and 12 inches long. The easiest way to get the strips is to cut the shirt at one seam, unfold it and cut straight across.

2
Stitch the top .25-inch edge of each of the six shorter strips leaving a bit of thread at the ends to pull. For each strip, you will pull the thread gently until they form ruffles. Repeat the same process with the two longer strips except that the stitch will be through the middle of the strips, rather than the top edge.

Pin the longer strips around the back and sides of the neckline, leaving a few inches of the front bare to add the other ruffles. Begin adding the shorter ruffles one-by-one by pinning them to the front of the neckline and adding each one about 1/2-inch below the top edge of the ruffle before it.

Attach the ruffles one at a time by removing the pins and sewing them to the blouse. Continue until all the ruffles have been sewn on.
