How to Make a Spider Using Felt
Style a spider using craft felt that will add a homemade flair to your Halloween decor. Adorn your faux spider webs with these fuzzy arachnids. Or, hang these spiders from the ceiling for a creepy crawling touch to your Halloween party. Make dozens of these bean-bag spiders to give away to trick-or-treaters in place of sweets. Or, create a felt spider to give your child who is fascinated with these eight-legged creatures.
Things You'll Need
- Sheet of black felt
- Scissors
- Sewing needle
- Black thread
- 2 cups of dried beans
- Hot glue gun
- 8 black pipe cleaners

1
Cut two 6-inch circles from a sheet of black felt. Stack the two circles on top of each other.
-
2
Stitch three-quarters around the edge using a sewing needle and black thread using a 1/2-inch inseam.
-
-
3
Flip the felt so the seam is on the inside of the circles. Fill the felt pouch with 1 to 2 cups of dried beans, depending on how full you want the spider’s body. Stitch the remaining edge of the circles together using a whipstitch.
-
4
Place the felt ball so the seams are on the sides and the whipstitch side is facing away from you. Attach four black pipe cleaners along each side of the felt ball using hot glue to form the spider’s legs. Bend the pipe cleaners in half so they form a 90-degree angle toward the ground that is similar to real spider legs.
-
5
Hot-glue eight small googly eyes to the end of the ball facing you for the spider’s many eyes.
