How to Make a Simple Little Girl's Dress
New clothes can be quite pricey especially if you have several little girls to shop dresses for. While second-hand dresses can be nice, they may not be as nice as you want them due to wear and tear. If you want to save money, you may either sew a dress from a new fabric or take a pillowcase and turn it into a new little girl’s dress.

1
Take the chest measurement of your little girl using a tape measure. Also, measure the length of the dress from the chest to the knees.
-
2
Cut across the top of the pillowcase to remove the seams. Cut a J-shaped hole along the side seams for the armhole. The length and width of the hole should be at least three to four inches. To make sure that both armholes are evenly cut, fold the pillowcase lengthwise first and then cut the armholes.

3
Fold 1/8 inch along the edges of the armhole and then press using the electric iron. Fold it again 1/8 inch over and press. Sew along the folded edges.
-
4
Measure from the top edge of the dress going down. Cut the bottom of the pillowcase according to the length of the dress that you need. Hem the bottom edges.
-
5
Fold the front top edge of the pillowcase 1/2 inch over, with the wrong sides of the fabric together. Press using an electric iron. Fold it another 1/2 inch and press again. This will serve as the ribbon casing of the dress. Do the same with the rear top edge of the pillowcase.
-
6
Stitch along the bottom fold of the front casing to sew it close. Do the same with the rear casing.
-
7
Pull a ribbon through the front casing using a bodkin. Do the same with the rear casing. Gather the ribbons over the shoulders and then tie them to create ribbon straps.
-
8
Design the dress with glitters, beads, rhinestones and other materials.
