How to Install Android 2.3 on the LG Optimus
Although the LG Optimus comes stock with the Android 2.1 operating system, it is possible to continue updating the phone’s operating system to enable new features. By installing Android 2.3 Gingerbread on your LG Optimus, you will have a phone that runs faster and can be tethered to a computer to share an Internet connection from the phone to the computer. Installing Android 2.3 can be accomplished by tapping to install the update when notified by your device.

Tap and drag down the “Notifications” bar at the top of the screen.

Tap the icon for “System update available” to access the information about the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update.

Tap “Download and Install” to begin downloading the update. The update may take anywhere between a few minutes to up to an hour to download.

Tap “Install” to install Android 2.3 on your LG Optimus.

Wait for the Gingerbread update to install itself on your LG Optimus. Note that the device may restart several times during the installation process. Once your LG Optimus goes to its normal lock screen, the installation process is complete.
