1
Wash your hair only when you really need to. Shampooing your hair every day strips it of natural oils that it needs to maintain softness and pliability. When you do wash your hair, concentrate only on the roots. The rest of your locks will be cleansed as the shampoo is washed out. Rinse your hair in warm water since hot water will dry your hair out.

2
Deep condition your hair once a week to strengthen your hair. A hot oil treatment once a month will add shine and curl definition.

3
Blot your hair with a towel but do not rub it. Rubbing will separate the natural curls and cause frizziness. Comb through your damp hair with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb.

4
Apply a curl-defining mousse or cream to your damp hair and gently comb it through with your fingers to distribute it. Pay particular attention to the ends of your hair that will be drier and more prone to frizz.

5
Attach a diffuser to your hair dryer and put it on low speed/medium heat. A diffuser will distribute a circle of air rather than a stream and will dry your curls without separating them. Tilt your head to one side and starting at the ends of your hair, move the hair dryer in slow circular motions gathering your hair toward your scalp. Continue until your hair is 90% dry and allow it to air dry the rest of the way.

6
Spray a flexible hold hair spray lightly over the top of your curls to help set them. Style your hair gently, touching it as little as possible. The less you touch your curls, the bouncier and more defined they will be.

Tips & Warnings
Look for cleansing and styling products that cater to those with curly hair. However, avoid those with a high alcohol content that will dry your hair out.
