How to Form Your Own Housewives Club

Clubs can assist individuals in making new friends in a community.

A strong social network can be an invaluable source of personal support. Forming a social club can be an excellent way for housewives and stay-at-home mothers to make connections in their local communities. Prior to organizing the club, determine whether the group will have any specialized focus. The club could focus on the culinary arts, or a discussion of best-selling fiction. In addition to a purely social focus, consider cooperatives or philanthropy as possible purposes.

Instructions

1. Determine the target membership, size and leadership of the social club. Will the organization be designed to provide social support for mothers of young children, or advanced gardening tips for retirees? Evaluate how often club meetings should be held, and possible sites for the gatherings.

2. Advertise a preliminary meeting to members of the local community. Though word of mouth can be among the most effective means of acquiring membership, consider local venues for attracting new connections. In addition to social networking websites, utilize bulletin boards at local nurseries, pediatric offices or coffee shops.

3. Establish an online presence for the group to keep communications open among members between meetings. According to the comfort level of members, facilitate exchanges of contact information between individuals. Develop an online group or email thread for discussion of future meetings.

4. Develop a club constitution cooperatively with members and hold elections to appoint leadership. While casual social clubs may not need multiple officers or to develop formal procedures, clubs that deal with significant funds may benefit from formal organization. Write out requirements for membership, holding office and procedures for meetings and elections.
