How to Enable the Canon Pro9000 E Tray

How to Enable the Canon Pro9000 E Tray thumbnail
European Canon printers ship with the CD/DVD printer function already enabled.

Most Canon printers have the ability to print directly onto CDs or DVDs, but this function is normally disabled on North American printers. After purchasing and installing a Canon CD "E Tray" for your Canon Pro9000 and downloading some free software from the Canon website, you're almost ready to start printing onto CDs. You will not be able to use your new E Tray until you enable the CD/DVD printing function through your printer's Service Menu.

Instructions

    • 1

Press "Power" to turn off the printer.

    • 2

Press and hold the "Resume" button while simultaneously pressing "Power" for five seconds. While continuing to press "Power," release "Resume" then double-click it before releasing "Power."

    • 3

Press "Resume" five times then press "Power" to open the Destination setting option.

    • 4

Press "Resume" four more times then press "Power" again to enable "Europe, CD-R."

    • 5

Press "Resume" then "Power" to print off a diagnostic sheet. Confirm that it says "iP4200 EUR V1.04."

    • 6

Press "Power" to confirm your new settings.

Tips & Warnings

  • Your printer properties drop-down menu should have "Printable Disc (Recordable)" listed as a media type after you have enabled the CD printing function.

  • You may need to uninstall your printer driver then reinstall using the CD-ROM that came with your computer before using your new E Tray.
