How to Make Felted Cuff Bracelets
Making felt cuff bracelets is an inexpensive craft project that is straightforward enough for children to undertake with adult supervision. Felt is colorful but durable, which makes it an appealing craft medium for children. Once you cut the felt band to make the foundation of the bracelet, you can decorate the cuff by stitching felt pieces or other embellishments to the material. This is an ideal party project for young children who have recently learned basic sewing skills.
Things You'll Need

- Scissors
- Nickel-sized button
- Threaded needle

1
Measure the wrist of the person who will wear the bracelet. Hold the measuring tape loosely. Add 1 inch to the measurement.
-
2
Cut a piece of felt that is your sum measurement in length and 1 1/2 inches wide. For example, if the loose wrist measurement was 4 inches, cut a felt band that is 5-by-1 1/2 inches.
-
-
3
Pinch one short end of the band to make a horizontal fold in the felt. Position open scissors 1/2 inch away from the short edge of the band. Snip the fold with the scissors to make a short, vertical slit in the fabric.
-
4
Place a button at the unsnipped, short-end of the band. Center the button between the top and bottom edges of the felt. Place the center of the button 1/2 inch away from the short-end of the band.
-
5
Hold the button in place on the felt above your work surface. Insert a threaded needle through the felt and a buttonhole. Pull the thread through until the knot catches on the underside of the felt.
-
6
Cross over the part of the button, toward another hole. Insert the needle through the buttonhole and felt to complete the stitch. Continue stitching the button to the felt. Tie the thread off on the underside of the band once you secure the button firmly. Trim the excess thread with scissors.
-
7
Cut small felt pieces in various colors to embellish the cuff. Cut letters, numbers, shapes or imagery.
-
8
Lay a felt cutout, button, bead or sequin on top of the felt cuff. Hold a threaded needle below the cuff. Insert the needle through the felt and embellishment. Stitch the embellishment into place.
-
9
Stitch embellishments onto the cuff until you achieve the desired level of decoration.
