How to Attach a Bracelet Coil Clasp to Hemp

Joining bracelet ends should be done carefully to ensure that the bracelet cannot come loose. Rather than tie the ends of a hemp bracelet together, you can form coils of wire on each end and hook the coils together. This requires a few basic household tools and that the hemp bracelet is completed before attaching the clasp.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut two 3-inch-long pieces of wire.

    • 2

Bend the wire pieces around the end of a knitting needle into coils. Leave about 1 inch loose. Bend the 1-inch section on the end of each coil into a loop. Close one loop fully with needle-nose pliers and leave the other slightly open. Remove the coils from the knitting needles.

    • 3

Feed an end of the hemp bracelet through each coil. Push down the last strand of the coil with needle-nose pliers to hold the hemp in place.

    • 4

Cut a 4-inch-long section of wire. Bend it in half and push the two sides close together. Bend the loops together approximately a half-inch to 3/4 inch away from the main bend. Twist the two open ends into a loop. Feed the loop into the open loop on the coil attached to the end of the hemp bracelet. Close the loop on the coil with needle-nose pliers to attach the hook.

    • 5

Hook the hooked end into the loop on the opposite coil to join the ends of the bracelet together.
