Create a fashionable look by lenghthening your kid's jeans.

Some children grow really fast and in no time they outgrow their clothes. It can be costly when you have to purchase new clothes for your kids at a rapid rate, especially if you are on a fixed budget. When your child outgrows his jeans, help to cut costs by using some creative ways to lengthen them. This is a project that you can do at home without the help of a seamstress.

Instructions

    • 1

Put the jeans that are too short on your child. Measure the distance from the hem of the jeans to the length that you want them to be. Measure the width of the jeans, making sure to leave at least 1 inch allowance for the width and the hem.

    • 2

Cut the piece of fabric using the previous measurements, then sew the seams together. Turn the pants inside out and lay on a flat surface. Align the seams of the fabric with the seams of the pants. Base both pieces together and stitch them in place.

Fold 1 inch on each leg to make the hem. Make sure that the hem is folded up while the pants are turned inside out. Flat stitch the hem on each leg twice to give the jeans a neat look.
