How to Make a Good Sound on the King Trumpet
Thomas King and Henderson White started manufacturing their own line of brass instruments as early as 1893 when they made a new style of trombone. King's trumpets are still around today and still create quality wind instruments. Most of the instruments are crafted from sterling silver, which gives them their distinctive sound. You can get your King trumpet to sound like the jazz greats with a few tricks of the trade.

1
Copy the musical tones of your favorite artists. Go to live performances or listen to good quality recordings and copy the tones you hear. Listen carefully to the original and then try to replicate the sound, making adjustments to your mouth, breath and posture to achieve perfect results.

2
Use exercises to strengthen the muscles you use to play. Place a pencil between your lips. Purse your lips so that the pencil sticks straight out of your mouth. Hold the pencil in place for three to four minutes. Do this exercise every day for four weeks.

Relax your stomach muscles. Tense stomach muscles do not produce a clear note. If you want to use your stomach muscles to press air from the lungs, use your core muscles instead. You can do this by focusing on contracting your abdominal muscles toward your spine. Stand up straight when you do this so that you can fill your lungs with air.

Do exercises daily to strengthen the muscles you need to play your King trumpet, and practice a piece every day. Choose easy pieces to begin so that you can have a sense of achievement when you are able to master them. Practicing, even for short periods every day, will have you playing your King trumpet like a pro in no time.
