1
Paint the walls of the breakfast nook in a warm color inspired by nature. Colors to consider include sage, sunny yellow and warm brown. Use a color that either coordinates with the rest of your kitchen or is a completely different color so you can set this space apart from the rest of the room.
-
2
Cover the floor with a natural material, such as slate or travertine tiles.

3
Add architectural elements into the space. If the ceiling in your breakfast nook is set apart from the ceiling of the rest of the kitchen, hang aged beams across the ceiling. Install knotty pine wainscoting along the bottom portion of the walls. Divide the walls with a natural wood chair rail.
-
4
Furnish the area with a collection of mismatched, aged pieces. Use a table made of reclaimed wood and surround it with a collection of wooden chairs in different shapes and sizes, or flank the table with wooden benches. Set a wrought iron baker's rake in the corner of the area to use as a display shelf and storage.
-
5
Incorporate accessories that have a natural, earthy vibe about them. Hang woven baskets on the walls of the area. Set porcelain bowls and pottery on the shelves of the baker's rack. Create a centerpiece on the table with wrought iron candlesticks topped with taper candles. Arrange woven throw pillows on the backs of the chairs or cushions along the tops of benches.
