How to Care for a Goatee
A goatee is a style of beard worn by men that typically includes a mustache and a small patch of hair covering the chin. While goatees generally take a few weeks to grow, some men may have uneven patches of hair after three months of trying to grow one because of how their facial hair grows. Following a few simple tips can help a man maintain his goatee so that it looks clean and stylish. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Keep your goatee dry when you trim it, as wet facial hair is longer than dry facial hair; trimming a beard when wet may result in a shorter look than you want. Every two to three weeks, trim your goatee with a pair of beard trimmers.
-
2
Stand in front of a wall mirror. Comb your mustache down with a fine-toothed comb. Set the adjustable trimmer guide on your beard trimmers to the longest setting when you are first getting used to using them.

3
Place the trimmers at the middle bottom of your mustache, just above your top lip and work outward toward the edges. Trim the hair at the end of your mustache to create an even, clean line above your top lip.
-
4
Run the trimmers over the rest of your goatee, around your mouth and over your chin. Include the patch of hair beneath your bottom lip and above your chin so that your goatee is one clean, even length. Adjust the trimmer guide down to a lower number to create a look that’s closer to your face, or up to create a goatee that’s full and comes off of your face a bit.

5
Comb your goatee down with a fine toothed comb after trimming. Use a pair of trimming scissors to cut down any stray, loose hairs sticking out unnaturally from your goatee that your trimmers might have missed.
-
6
Wash and condition your goatee daily or every other day, with the same frequency that you wash your hair. Gently pat your goatee dry with a towel after bathing.
-
7
Comb your goatee daily with a wide-toothed comb to remove tangles and give it a clean, tailored look every day.
