How to Make a Pomegranate Wreath

How to Make a Pomegranate Wreath thumbnail
Real pomegranates are expensive and too heavy to place on a wreath.

A wreath covered in pomegranates and dark green magnolia leaves is a beautiful way to greet your guests in the spring when pomegranates are in season. However, real pomegranates are heavy, and only available for a few months a year. It's much easier to work with fake pomegranates that you can buy at a craft or floral supply store. Fake pomegranates are realistic enough that most people won't know the difference, and they are available all year. Plus they won't rot, so your wreath will last much longer.

Things You'll Need

  • Floral foam wreath form with hanger
  • Hot glue gun
  • 5 fake pomegranates with floral wire attached
  • Dried magnolia leaves, 1 pound

Instructions

    • 1

Place the wreath form in front of you on your work surface with the front facing up. Arrange the magnolia leaves on the form to decide how you want the final wreath to appear. The leaves can be arranged in neat rows or random patterns, depending on your preference. Also decide where you want the pomegranates to go.

    • 2

Glue the magnolia leaves to completely cover the front of the wreath form. Use a dab of glue on just one end of the back of each leaf. Let the leaves overlap each other for a more organic look. Completely cover the form so none of the foam is showing. Allow the glue to dry completely.

    • 3

Pull apart the two strands of floral wire sticking out from one of the fake pomegranates. Wrap it tightly around the wreath form on top of the magnolia leaves in the spot where you want it to be permanently. Repeat the process for the remaining artificial pomegranates.

    • 4

Check for bare areas, including on the sides of the wreath. None of the floral foam should be showing. Glue more magnolia leaves onto the wreath to hide the floral wire and any areas of floral foam that is still visible.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add a ribbon if you want a fancier wreath.

  • Buy a wreath form that has a hanger built in so you don't have to add one.
