How to Make Your Own Jewelry Display Hanger With Compartments

How to Make Your Own Jewelry Display Hanger With Compartments thumbnail
Make a jewelry organizer to prevent jewelry from getting tangled.

Jewelry has a tendency to tangle if not properly arranged so make the right tool to keep your jewels straight. A jewelry display hanger with compartments is an organization tool with sections for earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Hang it in a closet or from a nail on a door or wall. Sew your own padded jewelry display hanger with clear compartments that keep your jewelry organized, protected and easy to access.

Instructions

    • 1

Iron the interfacing onto the wrong side of one 17-by-27-inch rectangle of fabric. Place the batting onto the wrong side of the same 17-by-27-inch rectangle of fabric and sew around all four edges with a sewing machine.

    • 2

Pin the two 17-by-27-inch rectangles of fabric together with the right sides facing inward. Sew around all four sides with a sewing machine, leaving a 2-inch section unsewn. Cut the corners and turn the fabric pieces inside out. Top stitch around all four sides of the rectangle with a sewing machine, closing the unsewn 2-inch section.

    • 3

Attach snaps to the top edge of the fabric rectangle. Fold the top edge over about 2 inches onto a hanger and attach the other side of the snaps where the two sides of the fabric meet.

    • 4

Pin one 17-by-5-inch strip of clear plastic to the bottom edge of the fabric rectangle. Sew along the right, left and bottom edge of the plastic with a sewing machine. Pin the other 17-by-5-inch strip of plastic 1-inch above the other clear plastic strip. Sew along the right, left and bottom edge of the plastic with a sewing machine. Attach the three 17-by-3-inch strips of clear plastic in the same way, each strip 1-inch above the top of the previous plastic strip.

    • 5

Measure 4.25 inches from the left side of the fabric rectangle and sew a line parallel to the left side of the fabric at this point. Measure 4.25 inches to the right of this line and sew another line parallel to the left side of the fabric. Repeat again and sew a line 4.25 inches from the last line. Each plastic strip should now be divided into four sections.
