Customize the link colors in your Web page using Netscape Composer, a free, easy-to-use Web design program included in the Netscape Communicator package.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Netscape Composer
  1. Step 1

    Start Composer and choose Open from the File menu. Locate the page and double-click to open it.

  2. Step 2

    Choose Format from the File menu and click on Page Colors and Properties.

  3. Step 3

    Click on the Colors and Background tab.

  4. Step 4

    Choose the Use Custom Colors option.

  5. Step 5

    Click on the bars next to each link option (visited links, links not yet visited, and so on) to select a color for that link style. Click OK when finished.

  6. Step 6

    Save the file and click on the Preview button to view it in the Netscape Navigator browser.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose link colors that will show up well against your background color or image if you have one. Avoid yellow, light blue or light gray colors, as they are difficult to read and the text will not show up on browsers that default to a white background. If you use a dark or brightly colored background, be sure to use a contrasting color for your links.
  • Some browsers will ignore any options you set and will default to their own settings.
