Instructions

    • 1

Draw out a design for the sash on paper so you know where to place the stones when you start sewing or gluing.

    • 2

Measure around your waist. Cut a piece of ribbon long enough to fit around your waist. Leave enough room for a bow and trailing ends. If you cut longer than necessary remove more ribbon later.

    • 3

Fold the ribbon in half to find the center. This is where you'll place the beading. Lay out the beads and stones on a table roughly how you will be placing them on the ribbon. Sew the beads and rhinestones on according to your pattern. Work in sections to make the project easier to set down and come back to later.

    • 4

Place a dot of glue on the sash to glue on beads, stones or crystals. If you are combining sewing and gluing, complete the sewing first so you don't knock the glued stones off the sash while you are working. To coat with beads, brush glue on the sash and sprinkle small seed beads in the glue and press down gently to affix.

    • 5

Fold the ends of the ribbon under and sew them closed to prevent fraying, once you have decided on the ribbon length.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not use wired ribbon.

  • Layer several ribbon colors and glue or sew them together to make a wider sash.
